According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson, investigations revealed that Kasirye had been pursuing a married woman named Nali, who had rejected his advances. Distressed after seeing her with her husband at a bar, Kasirye decided to take his own life.
During questioning, Nali admitted that Kasirye had been persistently pursuing her for a relationship. She explained that she had turned him down due to her marital status. Owoyesigyire emphasized that pursuing married individuals is not a valid reason to harm oneself and warned against such actions.
The incident has been recorded as a case of attempted suicide by the police in Nansana. Owoyesigyire urged individuals not to resort to self-harm if their love requests are rejected, stating, "If you get lucky and she accepts, that is your luck but if she refuses, don't commit suicide."
This incident highlights the importance of addressing mental health issues and providing support to individuals who may be struggling with rejection or other emotional challenges. It also serves as a reminder to respect the boundaries and commitments of others in relationships.
