The operation took place near the villages of Gal-Libah and El Quraq, on the border of Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle provinces. It was reported that seven high-ranking leaders of al-Shabaab were among those killed in the operation.

The ministry stated that the operation not only eliminated a significant number of al-Shabaab members but also destroyed the location where they were planning their activities. The Somali government expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the US army in dismantling the al-Shabaab group and protecting the Somali people from their harassment.

The Somali National Army (SNA) is still actively pursuing the remaining members of al-Shabaab. The Defense Ministry of Somalia declared that this operation marks a significant advancement in the fight against insurgency. In addition to the seven top-ranking leaders neutralized, at least 30 al-Shabaab terrorists, including two commanders, were killed in an earlier military operation near El Quraq.

This recent operation is part of a series of regular operations conducted by the SNA. Previously, similar operations took place in Budbud and Weel Maarow, resulting in the elimination of over 70 members of al-Shabaab. These operations demonstrate the commitment of the Somali government and its armed forces to secure the nation and protect its citizens from the threat posed by al-Shabaab.

The frequently conducted joint operation between the Somali military and US forces has significantly weakened al-Shabaab's leadership and decreased their operational capabilities in central Somalia.

This success therefore reinforces the determination of the Somali government to create a peaceful and stable country.

For many years, Somalia has faced significant challenges regarding security, primarily due to the presence of al-Shabaab and Daesh/ISIS terror groups.

Since 2007, al-Shabaab has been engaged in a protracted conflict with the Somali government and the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). AMISOM is a comprehensive mission authorized by the African Union and mandated by the United Nations Security Council to support stabilization efforts in Somalia.
