Christopher, who is 12 years old and resides in Okaulya village, Komolo Parish, Maizimasa sub-county in Butebo District, suffered the abuse in March 2023 at around 1:00 pm.
The incident occurred after Christopher returned home from Kaujani Primary School, which is located half a kilometer away from his house. Upon learning that his son had eaten the remaining soup, Herbert, who is a peasant, became infuriated. He proceeded to tie Christopher's hands with a rope and wrapped them with dry banana leaves before setting them on fire. As a result, Christopher sustained burns on his hands and back.

Christopher was immediately taken to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, he had to leave the hospital prematurely due to a lack of funds to purchase required medications. Both Herbert and his stepmother, whose identity is unknown, are currently evading the authorities. The police are actively searching for the couple to hold them accountable for the severe child torture they inflicted.
According to Mr. Gonsya, one of the neighbors who witnessed the incident, Christopher suffered severe burns on his head, back, and nearly his entire body, with the skin peeling off. The local community members had to intervene immediately to save the child's life while he was still burning.

Outraged by the brutality committed against Christopher, the residents took matters into their own hands. They stormed Herbert's home, causing destruction to various properties in response to the heinous actions of the father and stepmother. Mr. Gonsya condemned their behavior, describing it as barbaric and inhumane for this day and age.
In light of the severity of the situation, the residents swiftly reported the case to Kabwangasi Police Station.
