The Academic Registrar of Makerere University recently on 19th July, 2023 announced the re-advertisement of certain courses offered at the university.

The announcement invited applications from Ugandan, East African, and international applicants who are interested in pursuing undergraduate programs under the private sponsorship scheme for the upcoming academic year 2023/2024.
To be eligible for these programs, applicants must meet specific requirements, which are outlined as follows:
a) Possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes or its equivalent, as well as at least two principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), obtained in the same sitting. Candidates applying for day programs must have sat for A' Level in either 2022 or 2020. However, for evening, afternoon, and external programs, there is no restriction on the year of sitting A' Level. OR
b) Hold a Diploma from a recognized or chartered institution.
OR
c) Possess a Mature Age Certificate from either 2022 or 2021.
OR
d) Hold a Degree from a recognized or chartered institution.
In terms of the application process, interested individuals should submit their applications through the institution's Admissions URL, which can be accessed at https://apply.mak.ac.ug/. Upon submission, applicants need to obtain a payment advice slip with a unique Payment Reference Number by clicking on the 'Pay for Form' button. The payment should then be made at any of the Banks used by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

It is important to note that the deadline for submitting applications for undergraduate admissions is Friday, 4th August 2023.
The advertisement also issues a warning regarding the submission of forged or falsified academic documents. Applicants are strongly advised against using such documents to support their admission applications. The consequences of being found using such documents are severe.
Furthermore, applicants are urged not to purchase any documents that do not originate from the Academic Registrar's Office. Those who choose to buy such documents do so at their own risk.
Applicants are also advised to use the right programme names and codes. The university will not be responsible for any wrong information entered in the system by applicants.
Lastly, it is emphasized that the Academic Registrar has not appointed any agents to act on his behalf in soliciting additional funds apart from the application fee mentioned above.
